Pink sofa in a calming living room.

Leclair Decor

Every home deserves to be beautiful—that is the maxim for Leclair Decor. Husband-and-wife team Sacha and Melissa Leclair are making waves in Ottawa, Canada, with a fresh, approachable style that merges today's latest design trends with classic style to create beautiful, modern spaces. In a cozy one-bedroom, just a little bit under 600 square feet, the couple merged several aesthetics to create a warm home.

The condo, located in the Centretown community of Ottawa, was a new-build in need of a relaxed and comfortable floor plan. Adding everything from a pink velvet sofa to striking wallpaper, the design was infused with the couple's signature style that's a vibrant blend of furnishings, textiles, and artisan pieces.

Cozy Elements

Sacha and Melissa sought to create a space that spoke to femininity, relaxation, and creativity. While this interior has a small footprint, the designers maximized it with striking furniture and accessories that carve out zones in this open-plan living area, office, and kitchen. The slub velvet sofa is a statement piece in the living area. A colorful and eye-catching piece. A carved wooden coffee table brings in an artisan feel. And overhead, a glass pendant adds ambiance to the living area.

Artisan Pieces

A colorful sofa is an attention-grabbing piece in the living area, but the design does not just stop there. A vintage blue-gray rug is used to add even more color to the space. The blue appears again in a pom-pom throw pillow on the sofa. To keep the looking feeling fresh and modern, changes were made to the sofa's legs. Instead of the wood legs that it originally came with, brass feet were added for a touch of bling. The shimmering touch was a complement to another piece that the designer's loved for the living area, a milk glass and brass floor lamp from West Elm.

Efficient Open Plan

An open-plan kitchen connects directly to the home's living area. A bold fiddle leaf fig has been used to create a natural separation between the two areas. The kitchen has also been maximized with an island. Beyond the white cabinetry that offers plenty of room for storage, the island also serves as a dining table for entertaining. A set of wood stools offers a nice contrast to the stark white cabinetry. And the abundance of seating, even in such a small eat-in kitchen, allows for plenty of dinner parties to be held in this space.

Office Space

Just off the kitchen is the space where creativity drove the design. Along a wall, a home office has been designated in this cozy interior.  A simple, white Parson-style desk brings a mid-century modern feel to the space. And as a lovely tie-in to the living area, a blushing office chair with brass legs makes a beautiful office chair. For more color in the space, a gallery wall has been installed to the right of the desk. The collection of soft blue and green pieces creates a striking display on the office wall.

The bedroom is a colorful display. Leclair Decor embraces vibrant design, and so it's no surprise that the bedroom is a display of a multitude of hues and patterns. A mural behind the bed draws the eye into this cozy bedroom. The wall mural is a creative idea, adding a strong dose of personality to the bedroom. The watercolor piece sporting colorful florals is by Anewall, the source for custom wall murals.

Glowing Accessories

To complete the bedroom styling, details were brought into the space that ties in with the living room's aesthetic. A glass pendant hangs over the master bed. A modern brass frame is accessorized with a strong dose of pattern. The neutral gray and white triangle bedding keeps things feeling fresh and on-trend in the space. Just like in the living area, blush finds its way into space. This time it's a pink kidney pillow that picks up on the shades of pink that can be found in the bedroom's wall mural. For more glowing touches, a brass mirror stands out on the bedroom wall. And atop a midcentury side table, a ceramic and brass pineapple lamp is a kitschy element in the space.
