Chip and Joanna Gaines are no strangers to infusing spaces with details that feel at once personal and universal. So it's no surprise that their newest Magnolia property is a sight to behold.
Located on Magnolia's historic Hillcrest Estate in Waco, Texas, the Hillcrest Cottage is a perfect example of how personal style can be translated into even the smallest spaces.
While the building originally served as the property's carriage house, Chip & Jo have since transformed it into a charming 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom rental complete with an office nook and back patio.
Jo's personal approach to design is notoriously thoughtful and rooted in her own love of home, something that is difficult to achieve when it comes to interior design.
"For people who travel to Waco, Chip and I want to invite them into spaces that serve as an extension of the way we feel about our own home, so that everyone who visits can experience that same sense of belonging and community," Jo explains in the latest issue of Magnolia Journal, the quarterly magazine of which she is the Editor in Chief.
It's no easy feat to design a space through the lens of your own personal style while still maintaining universal appeal. But the attention to detail that Jo brings to every space she and Chip work on does just that.
"Our hope is that the very fabric of these homes—from the overall design and atmosphere to the smallest details—makes guests feel truly cared for and sets them up to flourish wherever their stay may lead them," she continues.
According to Magnolia Journal, "the cottage balances styles that are both traditional and modern. But the subtle power that invites you to settle in lies in the details—the thoughtful, unexpected things that spark curiosity."
And in true Magnolia fashion, those thoughtful touches go beyond the space's beautiful designs. According to Magnolia Journal, guests who rent the cottage can expect a personalized welcome note, fresh fruit and cupcakes and even a "passport" with locations to explore around the area.
And for those of us who don't have Waco trips planned in the near future, the cottage's inspiring interiors will always be here to inspire us to tap into our own personal styles.
