Ask any design enthusiast what’s on their wishlist, and you can bet that at least a few will cite Kelly Wearstler’s Linden lamp as a major want. Even if you don’t know this light fixture by name, odds are you’ve spotted it in a few of your favorite spaces—the piece is characterized by its base with circular, oversized knob designs.

The sizable lamp, which is available in both black and white, proves that accent pieces don’t have to be vibrant in color to make bold statements. “I adore the colors of the plaster white and black porcelain whose commonality plays perfectly in most spaces,” designer Anne Kokoskie says.

And for those who like a classic look with a little zing, the Linden lamp is the ideal happy medium.

“I love this style of lamp because it adds a little touch of quirk to any room,” designer Shannon Claire Smith says, who proudly displays a Linden lamp in her own home—and was lucky enough to score it at an estate sale. “The color, scale, and shade are super traditional, but the shape is different enough that it creates a conversation (or at least a second look).”

Starting at roughly $600 for the smaller size, the piece is quite pricey, though, which has led many design bloggers to DIY their own Linden replicas. But if you are willing to splurge on the real deal, know that you’re investing in an extremely versatile piece.

“I’ve used this lamp in my personal home to compliment a retro vignette that is a focal point in the living room,” designer Lindsey Jamison says. “We've seen it used in traditional, monochromatic spaces, and have the smaller scale version in our Rumor Designs showroom. It’s not a lamp you can find at a big box store, and it has the Kelly Wearstler creative touch we adore.”
